Respect for time

I just don’t understand how people can have no respect for another person’s time. I mean life is busy for everyone and for many, time really is money, yet some people just don’t seem to care.

The doctor’s office is the worst. Recently, I’ve been going to a series of doctors and it’s just annoying to be sitting for 45 min even when you have an appointment. I try to show up early so that I can register and all, yet it doesn’t matter. Why give out appointments when you clearly just call people by the order they come in?

I’m sorry about venting but I really think people need to have more respect for other people’s time. I constantly experience people showing up late for meetings. Ok, 5 minutes may be acceptable but 30 minutes? Why would you leave late if you know that you may have to drive around looking for a location? It’s not right at all. Sometimes I feel people are losing their basic values.

  1. I get this. I always want to be early. But then I learnt that some people really don’t value time in the same way, as in it’s a personality thing. To turn up on time to my friend made her feel restricted, frustrated. The same frustration I feel when I’m late. It’s so interesting. Still, since I value time, a big part of me thinks it’s rude to be late or to forget a meeting. But, just my personality. It’s so funny how another person can think I’m being rude to them when I try to make them get somewhere early.

  2. I feel this way about dating lol. As annoying as this concept is, try looking at it from another perspective – just to make it easier to deal with. Some people are overwhelmed with daily tasks and obligations that collide with each other. They are trying so hard to accomplish everything on their own, with no one to help. Imagine how hard it must be to know that you have to pick the kids up, drop them off to your moms (who is also running late), and grab them food…all the while trying to make it to the doctor (who only had 2 times available – one that conflicted with your 2 jobs works schedule). Not everyone is just sitting away fiddling while wasting your time. Some people are trying to fit LIFE in the best way they can with no help at all. The 5-10 minutes of your time that was wasted, may be a miracle to them.
